Ingredients
For Soup
- 2 tbsp. butter
- 1 medium onion
- 2 stalks celery
- 1 medium carrot
- 1 tbsp. all-purpose flour
- 4 cups water
- 1 tbsp. chicken powder
- 1 tsp. black pepper
- 1 lb. (500gm) chicken breast
For Dumpling
- ¾ cup of all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. black pepper
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 2 tsp. cilantro flakes
- ½ cup milk
Method
For Soup
- Preheat your pot on medium low heat; add 2 tbsp. butter in it. (If you want you can add a little more butter)
- Dice 1 medium sized onion, add it in the pot.
- Dice 2 stalks of celery and 1 medium carrot in small chunks and add it in the pot.
- Turn your flame on medium high.
- Sauté all your veggies.
- Cover your pot with the lid for 2 min.
- Add 1 tbsp. all-purpose flour, flour is thickening agent for the soup.
- Add 4 cups water, 1 tbsp. chicken powder, 1 tsp. black pepper powder in the pot. (We are not adding salt because chicken powder has salt in it.)
- If you want you can add more chicken powder for rich flavor.
- Cut 1 lb. of chicken breast in small cubes. (You can also use chicken thigh.)
- Add your chicken cubes in the pot; cover it with the lid for 15 min on medium heat.
For Dumplings
- Take ¾ cup of all-purpose flour in a bowl.
- Add salt, black pepper, baking powder and cilantro flakes in it. (You can also chop your cilantro flakes; it gives a really good color.)
- Mix all the dry ingredients well.
- Make the dough by adding 1/2 cup of milk. (Milk gives a very tasty flavor to your dumplings.)
- Take a spoon and make small dumplings one by one and drop them in the soup.
- Don’t mix your soup immediately after adding dumplings, also don’t overlap. Drop your dumplings in free space.
- Cover your pot with the lid for 7 min.
- 7 min later, turn your flame off. Now you can mix your soup. (At this stage taste your soup, if you feel the need of salt then add it. I didn’t feel the need of adding salt.)
- Now is the time to dish you soup out in a bowl.
- Voila! Your delicious chicken dumpling soup is ready to eat.
