Bun pizza is really very easy to make and is perfect meal for the lunch boxes of kids. Kids enjoy eating pizza; it is super delicious and can be prepared in just 5 min. This recipe is effortless and kids also get excited seeing these little treats in their lunch box.

Ingredients

For Pizza Sauce

  • 1 lb. (500g) tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp. oil
  • 1 tsp. garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp. chopped onion
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. dried oregano
  • ½ tsp. dried basil
  • 1 tsp. Kashmiri chili powder (not spicy, just for color)              
  • 2 tbsp. ketchup

For Bun Pizza

  • 2 burger buns
  • Diced veggies according to need
  • I used 1 tbsp. of diced red onion, olives, green onion, red yellow and green bell peppers.
  • 1 tbsp. oil
  • 4 tbsp. mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tbsp. pizza sauce
  • Dried Italian herbs (optional)

Pizza Sauce

  • Peel your tomatoes. There are many ways to remove skin of a tomato, you can blanch it or add your tomatoes in the pot with some oil to peel them off. But peeling them with a knife is the best and fastest way in my view point.
  • Add 1 tbsp. oil in a pot and 1 tsp. garlic paste, 1 tbsp. chopped onion in it and sauté.
  • Meanwhile cut your peeled tomatoes in small pieces.
  • After your onion is sautéed add your tomatoes in the pot.
  • Mix everything well, cover the pot and cook it for 10 min.
  • Add ½ tsp. salt, 1 tsp. dried oregano, ½ tsp. dried basil and 1 tsp. Kashmiri chili powder.
  • Now add 2 tbsp. ketchup for a balanced taste.
  • Mix everything well, cover your pot with the lid for 2 min so that all your spices incorporate.
  • If you want your pizza sauce chunky then it’s ready. But if you want it smooth then use a hand blender and blend it well.
  • Thicken your sauce for 1 to 2 min on medium low heat.
  • And it is ready. Dish out your pizza sauce and use when it acquires room temperature

  • Dice your veggies and drizzle 1 tbsp. oil on it.
  • Add 2 tbsp. mozzarella cheese in your veggies and mix it.
  • Heat your frying pan on medium low heat.
  • Add 1 tbsp. pizza sauce on your bun.
  • Add your veggies on the bun. (You can use toppings of your choice, if you have leftover meat you can also use it, you can use grilled meat or veggies too, just according to your taste)
  • Now add the remaining cheese on the top of the veggies.
  • You can also add dried Italian herbs like oregano, thyme and basil on the top of it.
  • Drizzle some oil on the pan or you can use nonstick spray.
  • Put your bun on the frying pan and repeat the process for the rest of the buns.
  • Cover your frying pan with lid on low heat, and your bun pizzas are done when the cheese is melted. (My cheese melted in about 8 min, your time may vary)
  • When your cheese is melted, turn the flame off and dish out your delicious bun pizzas.
  • Voilà! It’s ready to eat.
